Summer Cookout Recipes & Pairings

If you're not cooking outside this time of year, then you're just doing summer wrong. Get it right with some of these recipes and pairings for mid-week meals and weekend parties.

Soul Shine & Summer Citrus Salad

Obviously our Soul Shine Summer Pale Ale is the perfect beer to pair with any summer cookout meal. We especially recommend it with a summer citrus salad (sub orzo for fregola pasta), courtesy of the Food Network.

Reviver Ribs

A friend in Knoxville shared this Reviver Ribs recipe, which is the ultimate barbecue dish and uses our Reviver Red IPA.

    Jomo Bratwursts

    Don't want to wait 5 hours for ribs? Try boiling brautwursts in Jomo Vienna-style Lager, then grilling them for a quick, delicious meal.

    1. Combine one sliced onion with 4 bottles (12oz) of Jomo, season with salt and pepper
    2. Bring to a boil on the stove
    3. Add brats and boil 10-12 mins.
    4. After boiled, grill them 5-10 mins while cooking down the beer/onions.
    5. Serve onions as topping or side.

    Our sessionable Grateful Pale Ale pairs tremendously well with hot weather and sharp, cheesey foods like mac and cheese. This recipe for Southern mac-n-cheese, courtesy of Bon Appetit, is a tried and true staple of our repertoire.

    Hoppy Cheddar Cheese Sauce

    This Hoppy Cheddar Cheese Sauce with hop flowers is a great dip for pretzels or topper for burgers and sandwiches. It can also be used as the sauce for your mac and cheese recipe!Hoppy Cheddar Cheese Sauce Pretzels 

    The Love & Grilled Angel Food Cake w/ Strawberries

    The Love Wheat Beer is another perfect summer beer that lets you experience a Bavarian biergarten right in your own backyard. As your evening winds down, save room for The Love and a delicious dessert of grilled angel food cake with strawberries.

    1. Pre-heat grill, then slice strawberries.
    2. Whip 1 cup of heavy cream until peaks are about to form.
    3. Beat in 1 tablespoon sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla until peaks form.
    4. Grill slices of angel food cake until lightly browned on each side.
    5. Serve angel food cake and top with whipped cream and strawberries.
