5 BEERS FOR 5 YEARS 🎉

Help us celebrate our 5th Anniversary in style with the release of a sweet limited-edition glass and some delicious beers to go in it:

🪵 How Bout Dem Waffles Bourbon Barrel Breakfast Stout

Maple | Velvety | Spiced / 8.0% ABV

Aged for 15 months in 7-year A. Smith Bowman bourbon barrels, hitting a sweet spot of silky smooth bourbon character. In addition to a large variety of specialty malts and some lactose, this beer leans heavily into Madagascar vanilla beans, cinnamon, and fenugreek (the maple syrup flavor - wonder seed!). Big maple syrup aromas, oatmeal raisin cookies, with a touch of cinnamon. The mouthfeel is silky smooth thanks to flaked oats, chocolate wheat malt, vanilla beans, and lactose. While the bourbon barrel character is not the star of the show it does show up nicely in the finish and dances so well with the cinnamon. Slight oak tannins help reign in the sweetness of this beer and provide balance.

🥃 Don't call me Old Fashioned-Inspired Ale

Foral | Citrusy | Warming / 11.2% abv

After spending 1 year in a bourbon barrel, this Wee Heavy was further conditioned on orange peel and a bitter herb called gentian root* to recreate the classic Old Fashioned cocktail. All of the components of the cocktail are well represented with the warming bourbon character taking the leading role, while the caramel sweetness of the base beer is reminiscent of turbinado sugar, gentian root brings balance and herbal complexity to the party, and finally, the orange peel is the perfect complementary garnish to wrap it all up.

Don't Call Me is a great cool weather sipper and pairs well with a holiday vacation.

🍺 Pivo Evo Czech Pilsner

Malty | Floral | Balanced / 5.3% ABV

A slightly evolved version of Pilsen Underground trialing a different yeast strain and malt. Brewed with floor-malted Bohemian pilsner malt and triple decocted to drive malt depth and color.  Also keeping things classic Czech with heavy-handed additions of Czech Saaz hops throughout the boil to add a full spectrum of herbal and spicy hop character as well as the refined bitterness that these beers are known for. Aromas of fresh bread, honey, and countryside meadows (think honeysuckle, wildflowers and herbs) while some of these aromas are echoed in the flavor they are pleasantly balanced with a slightly spicy black pepper note from the Saaz that brings it all together. The yeast character is subtle and clean while leaving the beer with a medium body that further showcases the malt depth and brings a wonderful balance to this classic hoppy style.

🌲 Crate Digger (Plan 9 Collaboration) West Coast IPA

Resinous | Citrusy | Dank / 7.1% ABV

Crate Digger was a collab with the Richmond and C-ville record store, Plan 9. The name Crate Digger is a nod to searching through crates of records looking for that perfect one to add to your collection. Plan 9 owner Jim Bland told me his favorite type of beer is a classic West Coast IPA with firm bitterness and resinous pine aromas. I told Jim we could work with that while layering in a few different background notes to keep things interesting, just like a well-curated playlist. Classic IPA hops (Simcoe, Centennial, and Cascade) were used throughout the boil, while the dry hop took a more contemporary approach with Columbus Cryo (deep, dank & resinous), Southern Cross (a New Zealand variety that brings lemon/lime to the party), and everyone's favorite: Citra, to bring it all together with soft tangerine and subtle mango tones. Each sip starts with firm bitterness that transitions into a lingering/coating hoppy resin, while the dry finish begs the drinker for another sip.

☁️ Me and Hoppy McGee Hazy IPA

Citrusy | Tropical | Smooth / 6.7% ABV

The 5th beer for 5 years features Lotus and Vista hops, you'll find aromas of white peach, soft honeydew melon and orange blossoms. Seville oranges lead the flavor of this super pale hazy IPA with background notes of tropical fruit, subtle pear and green tea. Bitterness was slightly increased to aid in drinkability while remaining soft and pleasant. Virginia grown and malted soft red wheat provide ample haze and body while flaked and malted oats add a silky/smooth character to balance the layers of hops.
