Happy Virginia Craft Beer Month
Every August, we celebrate Virginia Craft Beer Month to celebrate independent craft breweries across the commonwealth. This year, Starr Hill Pilot Brewer, Jeff Metz, is bringing you “Hey Neighbor,” a Virginia grown Pilsner, to celebrate all August long in every Starr Hill tap room.
HEY NEIGHBOR
Virginia Pilsner
5.1% ABV
Brewed for Virginia Craft Beer month, “Hey Neighbor” features Virginia grown hops, malted barley, and wheat from farms around the Commonwealth. These ingredients include:
Crystal & Greenmont Mother (a VA native hop species!) hops from Greenmont Hopworks, just outside of Charlottesville
Malt from our good friends at Murphy & Rude Malting, located in Charlottesville
Together, these VA ingredients bring aromas of lemon peel, honeysuckle, water cracker, and country style bread, that are echoed in the flavor. “Hey Neighbor” has a firm, herbal hop bitterness that is accentuated by the minerality of the water.
“I like to think of this beer as a blend between the Czech and German style pilsners, not quite as much malt character as the Czech style but more than the German style, while the hop flavor and finish seems more German like," says Jeff.
So grab a pint and your neighbor, and enjoy this celebration of Virginia craft beer together!
