Starr Hill Brewery Expands Presence at Dairy Market

 Dairy Market is pleased to announce the expansion of Starr Hill Brewery’s footprint within the food hall, bringing one of Charlottesville’s most established craft beer brands into a larger, more central role in the Market experience. 

Beginning May 1, Starr Hill will assume operations of what is currently Milkman’s Bar and extend its current ABC license and operations to include the bar space and food hall of Dairy Market. Founded in Charlottesville and deeply rooted in the local community, Starr Hill is an anchor tenant at Dairy Market and this expansion creates a more seamless and vibrant guest experience while supporting the continued evolution of the Dairy Market. 

With this change, Milkman’s Bar, a staple of the Dairy Market since its opening in 2021, will cease operations on April 19, 2026. Until then, Milkman’s will offer a limited menu of snack and beverage items for guests. 

Over the past 9 months, Starr Hill has also expanded its menu to complement its extensive craft beer selection. Customers can now purchase local wine from King Family Vineyards, local cider from Potter’s Craft Cider as well as hand-made hard seltzer cocktails and a variety of traditional canned cocktails. Starr Hill has also added a full menu of pub fare, including nachos, paninis, hot dogs and the award-winning Nordic Knot soft pretzels. A new brunch menu also launches in April. 

“This transition allows us to simplify operations and create a more cohesive experience for our guests,” said Mike Rosen, Director of Hospitality for TLC Hospitality Group, which manages operations at the Dairy Market. “Starr Hill is a trusted, community-driven business with a proven track record, and their expanded presence strengthens the Dairy Market as a whole.” 

For Dairy Market vendors, the expanded license supports increased foot traffic, longer dwell time, and a more inviting communal environment—key elements of a healthy, thriving food hall. Guests can expect the same welcoming, family-friendly Dairy Market they know, with the added benefit of a consistent beverage program led by one of Virginia’s most respected breweries.
