Drumroll for the Starr City...

So close you can taste it!

If you’ve had your eye on the Pilot Brewery and Side Stage’s Instagram story, you might have caught some sneak peaks of the massive installations, murals, and advances in preparation of our Grand Opening in the Starr City. We are down to the wire — with artist Jaimie Phillips adding finishing touches to the local landscape, the hanging of lights, and bartenders gathered admiring the brightly colored taps like candy for grown-ups — but the finale is in sight.

The Starr City's landscape

A drumroll to the Grand Opening, Friday will welcome throngs of local media, the Roanoke City Councilors, and members of the Roanoke Regional Partnership, in a ribbon cutting and beer sampling to usher in a weekend of firsts and celebration. Later that evening, the Pilot Brewery & Side Stage will host a dinner for the Roanoke Graduate Student Association in its first private event.

On Saturday, Team Starr Hill will be joined by friends, family, and fans in a Grand Opening festivity at the Pilot Brewery & Side Stage. Local musicians Corey Hunley, Seph Custer, and Barefoot West will christen the Side Stage in its first performances. Come by to play some games on the patio, enjoy local eats courtesy of Fast Burger food truck, and sample some of Starr Hill's latest and greatest on 23 taps!

On draft, fans and friends of the independent craft brewery can expect to taste and enjoy the familiarity of its core brands: Northern Lights IPA, The Love Wheat Beer, Grateful Pale Ale, Jomo Vienna Lager, and Double Platinum Imperial IPA. Roanokans will be thrilled for the chance to taste limited release brews never before poured in the area, such as Chipotle Double Bass Double Chocolate Stout, or rare tapping Barrel-Aged Scotch Ale that will be a draft-only selection for a limited time.

What's On Tap?

The Pilot Brewery’s Bridges neighbors will be joining the merriment, with Starbucks serving $1 ice coffees with proceeds to go to The Making Foundation, and Moe’s providing free chips and salsa. Local radio station The Alt Project will broadcast the cheers to all those who cannot attend.

Join us at noon this Saturday, September 16 as we open the doors to the #StarrCity. Click here for the details on the Grand Opening!
