Tess Bryan is a folk musician from Virginia, currently based in Crozet, but soon heading to New York City. Her music is a blend of eclectic inspirations ranging from Johnny Cash and Dolly Parton, to Leonard Cohen, The Beatles, Phoebe Bridgers, and Florence and the Machine. Her first album "The Queen Mess of Everything" is now available on all streaming platforms as of September 1st, 2022, and her second one is in the works!
Raised on the country western variety show, Hee Haw, and The Lawrence Welk show, Tess discovered a passion for music at a very young age. She sang and made up songs at home and on the bus to school, and the first instrument she ever got her hands on was the electric organ in her grandparent's living room. She picked up cello at the age of eight and put it back down at the age of eleven, trading it in for a guitar so she could move on to playing rock and country music, largely focused on learning Johnny Cash songs and Nirvana tunes.
At the age of fourteen, she joined a band, the name of which was very fluid and changed frequently, to a point that she can't even remember one name that they were called. They mainly played 90s grunge and alternative music, played a few gigs, and disbanded after about three years. She's been flying solo ever since, learning audio production skills at The Recording Workshop where she earned an audio engineering certificate. Because of this, she was able to write, record and produce her first record all on her own.
Mathilde's Flame is working on heading to New York to start busking and gigging in the big city. She hopes you'll follow her along on her musical journey, wherever it is that it takes her. Listen to The Queen Mess of Everything, wherever you get your music.
