Brewery Staff

  • Demand Planning Analyst

    Starr Hill Brewery is seeking a new addition for its business support team. The Demand Planning Analyst will be responsible for organizing several key business and production functions, working closely with the Brewmaster as well as members of the Starr Hill finance and sales teams. A significant portion of the role is dedicated to analyzing, interpreting and communicating activity within Starr Hill’s supply chain, acting as the primary coordinator and user of the brewery’s demand planning database and interfacing with wholesaler partners up and down the East Coast. The Demand Planning Analyst will develop strong skills in inventory management and logistics coordination to assist the brewery in cost control and to maintain the highest standards of quality and freshness. Skills in MS Excel and Access are required with experience in Access Visual Basic and SQL Queries strongly preferred.

    Candidates must have the ability to work well in a team environment, balance multiple tasks and projects at once, and communicate clearly and efficiently, both internally and externally.

    Demand Planning
    • Monitor and maintain database of wholesaler sales and inventory weekly
    • Use proprietary tools to distribute order recommendations to wholesalers weekly
    • Confirm and finalize all wholesaler orders, working with purchasing contacts
    • Report to Senior Management on wholesaler inventories, orders and issues to avoid any out-of-stock products

    Brewery Inventory Control
    • Monitor and maintain records of finished goods inventory in warehouse
    • Work with Manager of Brewery Operations to prepare weekly packaging schedule
    • Monitor, maintain and reconcile finished goods and packaging inventory weekly
    • Manage keg cooperage to ensure weekly packaging needs are available

    Warehouse Logistics
    • Write weekly shipping schedule and schedule trucks daily
    • Analyze freight costs to ensure best possible and most cost-effective shipping scenarios

    Invoicing and Other Tasks
    • Issue invoices and credit memos all customers within 48 hours
    • Review variances between expected and physical inventory counts for finished goods
    • Report weekly on sales to retail, shipments, current inventory and production
    • Other tasks as directed by senior management

    Reports To
    • Finance Manager

    Requires Proficiency or Experience With:
    • MS Excel (including macros), MS Access, Access Visual Basic, SQL Queries

    Preferred Candidate has:
    • Degree in business competency (accounting, finance, information systems) or computer science
    • Experience in supply chain management
    • Experience with SAP-based accounting software

      Starr Hill Brewery’s Brand Ambassadors strive to spread our world-class beer and fun-loving culture throughout our distribution footprint, crafting great times and creating super fans along the way. Starr Hill Brand Ambassadors are motivated, social individuals who have a passion for craft beer and an outgoing personality. They are responsible for executing promotional events in the trade in evenings and on weekends. Brand Ambassadors educate the public about Starr Hill beers in the on and off premise and will be trained by and report to the Sales Representative for their respective markets. Brand Ambassadors are part-time Starr Hill employees.

You’ll share the Starr Hill story and educate these visitors about the history, culture, process, and portfolio of tasty beverages brewed right here at our Crozet facility. You should also be an advocate of maintaining great cleanliness and safety standards at all times. You’ll need to ensure our fans and guests are having a fantastic time that lives up to the high standard set by our world-class beers. Having a strong appreciation of craft beer and our home in the Virginia Blue Ridge is also extremely important, as you’ll be engaging with long-time fans and new ones alike. If you love our beers and always thought it would be cool to share your passion, then we may have the perfect gig for you!

      Shifts can include:

      Tuesday – Friday: 5 – 10 PM
      Saturday: 10 AM – 8 PM or 12 – 10 PM
      Sunday: 11 AM – 7 PM

      Candidates should be organized with strong communication skills and an engaging personality. Significant career experience in customer service is a must, as well as the ability to multitask. Hours vary so flexibility is key as we’re open six days a week, including some holidays. Must have open availability, especially on weekends.
