        Starr Hill Brewery’s Brand Ambassadors strive to spread our world-class beer and fun-loving culture throughout our distribution footprint, crafting great times and creating super fans along the way. Starr Hill Brand Ambassadors are motivated, social individuals who have a passion for craft beer and an outgoing personality. They are responsible for executing promotional events in the trade in evenings and on weekends. Brand Ambassadors educate the public about Starr Hill beers in the on and off premise and will be trained by and report to the Sales Representative for their respective markets. Brand Ambassadors are part-time Starr Hill employees.

        We are looking for Brand Ambassadors in all of our markets, including Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, and Washington, D.C.

        Pay is hourly and certain expenses will be reimbursed.

      • Sales Representative: Tidewater

        Primary Job Responsibilities

        • Work with Management to develop and adhere to an aggressive call frequency on key existing and new retailers in the Virginia Beach market
        • Primary Sales Responsibilities for the Virginia Beach, Portsmouth, Norfolk, Hampton, Williamsburg and Nags Head Markets
        • Utilize this aggressive retail call frequency, as well as data from in-house systems, to identify sales opportunities
        • Maintain a Key Accounts list across area of accountability (on & off-premise) and track performance by updating monthly. Use this list as a planning tool prior to and during market visits
        • Communicate key observations and account specific opportunities with respective wholesaler management within 48 hours of market visit utilizing established template
        • Plan and execute off-premise samplings at key retailers at a frequency determined by Management
        • Assist in the development and implementation of the Annual Business Plan (ABP), then hold wholesaler and other team members accountable for results vs. ABP
        • Assist in conducting business reviews on a monthly and quarterly basis that analyze achievement versus volume and distribution goals
        • Ensure wholesaler execution against all chain programs and objectives
        • Monitor wholesaler and competitive pricing activities and communicate opportunities utilizing the reporting/tracking tools provided
        • Collaborate with the Management on local sponsorship and special event opportunities and execution
        • Coordinate, negotiate and attend events affiliated with Starr Hill brands including, but not limited to, bartender/wait staff training, tastings and beer dinners
        • Help manage the Brand Ambassador Program utilizing proper planning, communication and follow-up
        • Assist Management in the monitoring of wholesaler inventory levels and communicate any issues accordingly
        • Complete necessary and required reports with timeliness and accuracy
        • Coach, train, motivate, influence and lead wholesaler team members, as well as internal team members
        • Comply with all company policies and procedures, ensuring that all activities are conducted within local, state and federal laws

        Job Requirements

        • 2-3+ years of sales experience in Beverage Industry (preferred)
        • Must live within close proximity to the Virginia Beach Market
        • Understanding of 3-tier system and exposure to retail account marketing and management (preferred)
        • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to operate effectively in a collaborative team environment
        • Ability to juggle multiple projects under tight constraints and still meet all deadlines
        • Creative thinker with the ability to develop and execute innovative strategies that increase sales and market share
        • Not satisfied with just meeting expectations but motivated to exceed customer expectations
        • Excellent verbal and written communicator who can create clear images through words to ensure clear and concise communication with management, co-workers and vendors/distributors
        • Strong analytical skills with the ability to turn data into action
        • Strong connection to the local market is preferred
        • Technical beer industry knowledge (beer styles, draught, on/off-premise) preferred (i.e. Cicerone Certified)
        • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Power Point)
        • Bachelor’s degree desired
        • Ability to travel as required

      Tap Room Staff

      • CROZET: Tap Room General Manager

        Starr Hill is seeking a motivated, passionate individual to be General Manager for its original Crozet Tap Room. The GM will be responsible for all promotional, marketing, and operational performance of the Starr Hill Crozet Tap Room. This person should demonstrate their leadership skills by directing Starr Hill’s Crozet Team to maintain the utmost standards of customer service, to focus on guest experience and to bring Starr Hill’s culture to our visitors through daily oversight of the Tap Room, with a goal of maximizing financial performance.

        The ideal candidate should have an excellent knowledge of beer, as well as outstanding communication skills, an enthusiastic attitude and a significant level of experience in leading a team. This position reports directly to Starr Hill’s VP of Sales with monthly reporting to the entirety of Senior Management. The position is full-time with weekend shifts, plus tips, bonuses, and benefits, including company-sponsored healthcare plan, paid time off, paid holidays and, of course, free beer!

        Marketing/Programming
        • Create and manage all aspects of customer programming to maximize traffic and dollar sales
        • Develop and execute all traditional advertising, charitable donations and other marketing vehicles with established budget goals
        • Produce all social media content and engagement for all Starr Hill Crozet handles/platforms
        • Work with corporate marketing team to ensure cohesion with corporate brewery strategy (new brand releases, corporate marketing campaigns, etc.)
        • Identify local sponsorship and special event opportunities related to the tap room
        • Develop new merchandise ideas for local tap room
        • Coordinate with logistics team to ensure specialty beers are utilized appropriately

        Operations
        • Tend bar during regular business hours at a minimum of (2) weekdays, with oversight on weekends
        • Recruit, train, and staff tap room, within established labor budget
        • Ensure staff prioritizes customer service and satisfaction and operates in accordance with all Federal and State laws, including Virginia ABC laws
        • Deliver annual performance reviews for all staff members
        • Execute all weekly beer and merchandise orders, based on proper inventory management
        • Coordinate and manage food truck and entertainment relationships
        • Organize and execute special events on site in collaboration with corporate marketing, if necessary, as well as private wholesale and retail customer visits
        • Design pricing strategies to increase sales and profitability
        • Communicate customer feedback on Starr Hill brands and key initiatives to Senior Management
        • Maintain a clean, organized, friendly and welcoming environment in all areas of operations, ensuring the best possible customer experience
        • Proactively manage and aid in development of taproom improvements

        Reporting to Senior Management
        • Assist in the development of an annual budget
        • Participate in weekly call with VP of Sales to review operations and programming
        • Participate in a monthly business review with Senior Management
        • Maintain quarterly and monthly programming calendars to share with Senior Management
        • Develop simple reporting metrics to efficiently communicate weekly and monthly performance to Senior Management
        • Collaborate with other retail GMs to share ideas and content for best practices

        Starr Hill Brewery is a Mid-Atlantic regional brewery with distribution in six states. Founded in Charlottesville, Virginia, in 1999, Starr Hill is one of Virginia’s oldest and largest independent craft breweries. In 2006, Starr Hill relocated production to the small town of Crozet, VA, just 14 miles west of Charlottesville, nestled at the base of Shenandoah National Park and the Blue Ridge Mountains. In 2017, we are excited to expand into a new retail location in Roanoke, Virginia, the Starr Hill Pilot Brewery & Side Stage.

        Starr Hill is seeking part-time bartenders for weekday and weekend shifts. The ideal candidate should have significant customer service experience, enthusiasm for craft beer, as well as outstanding communication skills and an engaging personality. Ability to multitask is a must.

Having a strong appreciation of craft beer and our home in the Virginia Blue Ridge is also extremely important, as you’ll be engaging with long-time fans and new ones alike.         Shifts can include:

        Tuesday – Friday: 5 – 10 PM
        Saturday: 10 AM – 6 PM or 2 – 10 PM

        • Provide tours of the Starr Hill brewing facility on the hour
        • Prioritize customer service and satisfaction
        • Support the bar staff, occasionally helping to serve customers beer in compliance with Virginia ABC laws and TIPS training
        • Complete all opening and closing procedures pertaining to tours efficiently, while adhering to our high standards of cleanliness
        • Maintain and refresh tour supplies as necessary
        • Help to execute beer and merchandise sales
        • Help to maintain a well-kept and stocked Tap Room and Merchandise Room
