In a Starr Hill Brewery first, we partied with friends from around Charlottesville and beyond for an incredible Oktoberfest event at the Tap Room – and man, what a great time!
The brewery transformed into a true Beer Hall complete with long tables and mug brimming with some special releases of our German-style beers, including the return of Festie Oktoberfest Lager, Smoke Out Rauchbier and the new Helles Bock.
In an epic culinary throwdown, a trio of local chefs competed for top Oktoberfest dish using locally sourced pork products from The Rock Barn, including Brookville Restaurant‘s Chef Harrison Keevil with a traditional Bavarian Bratwurst and Kardinal Beer Hall‘s Chef Thomas Leroy with Kardinal Kuriwurst. Congratulations to Chef Curtis Shaver of Hamiltons’ at First & Main / Sandwich Lab for winning with their delicious Cider Brat & pretzel spaetzle!
Basically Blue and Jon Spear Band both kicked out the jams with some searing, funky blues tunes. Here’s our Spotify playlist of Oktoberfest polka and beer drinking songs for you to keep the party going:
A big thanks to the restaurants, bands and everyone else for coming out! Here’s some photos below to remember a great day of crafting great times. We can’t wait until the next event (hint: you might want to wear green)!
