        Starr Hill Brewery’s Brand Ambassadors strive to spread our world-class beer and fun-loving culture throughout our distribution footprint, crafting great times and creating super fans along the way. Starr Hill Brand Ambassadors are motivated, social individuals who have a passion for craft beer and an outgoing personality. They are responsible for executing promotional events in the trade in evenings and on weekends. Brand Ambassadors educate the public about Starr Hill beers in the on and off premise and will be trained by and report to the Sales Representative for their respective markets. Brand Ambassadors are part-time Starr Hill employees.

        We are looking for Brand Ambassadors in all of our markets, including Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, and Washington, D.C.

        Pay is hourly and certain expenses will be reimbursed.

        Starr Hill Brewery is a Mid-Atlantic regional brewery with distribution in nine states. Founded in Charlottesville, Virginia, in 1999, Starr Hill is one of Virginia’s oldest and largest independent craft breweries. In 2006, Starr Hill relocated production to the small town of Crozet, VA, just 14 miles west of Charlottesville, nestled at the base of Shenandoah National Park and the Blue Ridge Mountains. In 2017, we are excited to expand into a new retail location in Roanoke, Virginia.

        Starr Hill is seeking a highly motivated and passionate individual to join our team at our new location in Roanoke. This person should demonstrate his or her leadership skills by directing Starr Hill’s Roanoke Team to maintain the utmost standards of customer service, to focus on guest experience and to bring Starr Hill’s culture to the Star City through daily oversight of the Tap Room. The ideal candidate should have an excellent knowledge of beer, as well as outstanding communication skills, an enthusiastic attitude and a significant level of experience in leading a team. The position is full-time with weekend shifts included at an hourly pay rate, plus tips and benefits, including company sponsored healthcare plan with dental and vision, paid time off, 401k with company matching, paid holidays and, of course, free beer!         Primary Job Responsibilities

          • Tend bar during regular business hours
          • Serve customers beer in compliance with TIPS training
          • Sell to-go beer and merchandise
          • Prioritize customer service and satisfaction
          • Complete all opening and closing procedures efficiently
          • Manage bar setup with ample supplies and order as necessary
          • Maintain utmost cleanliness of bar area to maximize functionality and attractiveness, including weekly cleaning of beer lines
          • Beer inventory management with adherence to stock control procedures
          • Master internal POS system and help train weekend staff on POS system
          • Ensure accurate cash management procedures and complete required reports with timeliness and accuracy
          • Complete merchandise inventory and ordering
          • Organize and stock merchandise display
          • Work with Management to develop strategies, techniques, and programs to increase sales in the Tap Room
          • Help plan and execute weekly programming and special events
          • Collaborate with Management to ensure Starr Hill’s key brand and program objectives are executed in the Tap Room
          • Collaborate with Management to execute wholesaler, retailer and other important customer visits, as well as special events and promotions in the Tap Room
          • Assist brewery team in taking gravities, tank monitoring, etc.
          • Help manage jockey box and keg accessory rentals and ensure returned items are properly cleaned
          • Promote and practice compliance with fire, health, safety and hygiene standards and regulations
          • Comply with all company policies and procedures, ensuring that all activities are conducted within local, state and federal laws

        Job Requirements

          • Passion for craft beer
          • Minimum of 2 years’ experience selling craft beer in either the supplier or retail channel
          • Outgoing personality interested in representing Starr Hill as the face of the brand in Roanoke
          • Excellent customer service skills, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to operate effectively in a collaborative team environment
          • Ability to juggle multiple projects under tight constraints and still meet all deadlines
          • Creative thinker with the ability to develop and execute innovative strategies that increase sales
          • Not satisfied with just meeting expectations but motivated to exceed customer expectations
          • Must be able to lift 20 pound boxes and stand for an 8-hour shift
          • Must live within close proximity to the Roanoke, Virginia Market
            • Strong connection to the local market is preferred
          • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Power Point)
          • Bachelor’s degree desired
